Neusner, Jacob

(b. 1932)
   American scholar. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut; he taught at Columbia University, the University of Wisconsin, Dartmouth College, Brown University and the University of Southern Florida. An expert in rabbinics, he published numerous books and received various scholarly awards. In 1968-9 he served as president of the American Academy of Religion.
